The City of Des Moines has been notified that the Martin Luther King Shelter and Meal Site has been awarded a LEED Rating of Certified.  Brewer Engineering provided MEP design services and LEED documenation for this important neighborhood project.  The building's HVAC systems are water source heat pumps with a geo-exchanger.  BEC is proud to point out that this project received 8 out of 10 possible points for Energy and Atmosphere Credit 1 (EAc1) for achieving a whole building energy use COST SAVINGS of more than 37% LESS than a comparable ASHRAE 90.1-2004 building!  First year energy bills have confirmed the energy modeling as correct.
